We love great food - you can tell by the amazing breakfast Buck cooks - and we’re happy to point you to some of our favorites places to eat and hang out..
Restaurants
-
Adirondack Mountain Coffee Cafe
Relaxed spot, great food and locally roasted coffee. The Cafe is popular with the locals so you might have a wait — but it’s worth it! They don’t take reservations.
-
Cadence Lodge Restaurant
Amazingly delicious food right here in Wilmington! Lots of locally sourced ingredients and the best vegetarian/vegan options around. If the Rosemary Apple Cake is on the menu when you’re there - don’t miss it! We had it two years ago and still think about it.
-
Cafe Rustica
CIA trained chef cooking the best Italian food in the Adirondacks - and that’s saying something coming from a family named Stagnitt! Reservations are recommended.
-
Forty Six
Incredible, bistro-style, farm-to-table food featuring local, sustainably-sourced ingredients. You’ll need a reservation so call ahead!
-
Ice Jam Inn Restaurant
Elevated, eclectic comfort food is their motto and they don’t disappoint. We always find something new to try!
-
Lisa G's
Lisa G’s is a favorite for delicious family meals and great atmosphere. Whenever the kids are home, they want to go here for a Cheese Treat - look for it on the menu. If the patio and deck are open, dogs are welcomed here too.
-
Top of the Park
Small plate dining, locally sourced food and the best mixologists north of New York City and south of Montreal. Plus the view can't be beat! For a special meal, this is our go-to restaurant.

The Twisted Raven
This is our local tavern with the best burgers around and a great game room! Sometimes they have live music and sitting outside on patio having a meal and looking at Marble, Lookout, Esther and Whiteface mountains is the best.
-
Sentinel & Station
Named for the street corner in Lake Placid that it’s on, Sentinel & Station is a new, cozy restaurant and cocktail bar in Lake Placid owned by the same folks who own Lisa G’s. It’s quickly becoming a favorite too — the short ribs melt in your mouth!
-
White Bear Restaurant
In Lake Placid, the people at the White Bear Restaurant treat you like family and the view from the patio is fantastic. Of course the food is good too!
-
Wiseguys Sports Bar & Grill
This is our favorite sports bar around! Clea loves the BLT & sweet potato fries. Plenty of TVs and casual atmosphere plus a great deck in the summer.
Coffee Shops and Delis
-
Black Brook General Store
The owners of Black Brook General are locals who graduated from Paul Smith’s Culinary and make the best sandwiches around. When our son comes home, this is always his first stop! Eat upstairs in the choir loft or outside on the picnic tables, weather permitting.

With fantastic coffee drinks, lite fare and a selection of cocktails and wine, this is a great spot to sit and relax after your adventures or on a rainy day. We’re big fans!

The Corner Store
The Corner Store Deli’s been in business for nearly 100 years! Clea works near here so it’s a regular lunch spot and never fails to deliver.
-
Forks Blend and Brew
Local flavor in Ausable Forks. Excellent coffee, breakfast sandwiches and gluten free baked goods. A favorite hangout!
-
Little Supermarket Deli
In addition to gas and convenience items, the Little Supermarket makes a great sandwich and deli salads. A regular for us and it’s right here in Wilmington!
-
Origin Coffee Co.
Great coffee and tea drinks and a very comfortable, inclusive space with wonderful staff. Across from the Olympic Speed Skating Oval, we love to sit in the window and relax. They have a location in Saranac Lake too, on the Saranac River.
